Ayapaneco is an endangered

anguage.
Ayapaneco is an indigenous language of Mexico belonging to the Mixe-Soquean
linguistic family. It is spoken in the state of Tabasco, specifically in the community of
Ayapa, municipality of Jalpa de Méndez, this is the language considered one of the
oldest in Mesoamerica with a rich history and culture.
Origins and characteristics
It originated from the Chontalpa in the state of Tabasco. The language has its own
writing system although its use is not very common.

the Ayapaneco community.
